Ce vendredi 10 janvier 2025, la Police Nationale d’Haïti (PNH) a célébré la graduation de sa 34e promotion, baptisée « Promotion Vertières », lors d’une cérémonie solennelle tenue à l’École Nationale de Police. Cet événement marque l’intégration de 739 nouveaux policiers, parmi lesquels 213 femmes et 526 hommes, prêts à s’engager dans la mission essentielle de sécurisation du pays.
Cette cérémonie a vu la participation de hautes personnalités, dont le président du Conseil Présidentiel de Transition (CPT), Leslie Voltaire, le Premier Ministre Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, le Directeur Général de la PNH Normil Rameau, ainsi que des représentants internationaux, tels que le responsable de la Mission Multinationale de Soutien à la Sécurité (MMSS) Godfrey Otunge, et divers membres du corps diplomatique.
Des engagements forts pour la sécurité
Prenant la parole, le Directeur Général de la PNH, Normil Rameau, a salué le courage des nouveaux policiers et rappelé leur responsabilité cruciale : « Vous êtes désormais les défenseurs du peuple haïtien. Votre devoir est de protéger et de servir, en suivant les principes de notre institution et en incarnant l’intégrité. »
Il a également insisté sur la nécessité d’une collaboration étroite entre la population et la police : « Le peuple haïtien est votre allié sur le terrain. Ensemble, nous devons neutraliser les gangs et rétablir la paix. »
Le soutien du gouvernement et des partenaires internationaux
Le Président du CPT, Leslie Voltaire, a souligné la détermination du gouvernement à ramener la stabilité et la sécurité dans le pays. « Cette nouvelle promotion symbolise notre engagement à restaurer l’ordre et à garantir la libre circulation des citoyens à travers le territoire national », a-t-il déclaré. Il a également encouragé les diplômés à faire de la loi leur guide et à servir avec dignité.
Leslie Voltaire a salué les efforts des formateurs, des familles des aspirants policiers, et des partenaires internationaux qui contribuent au renforcement de la PNH.
Une promotion symbolique
Baptisée « Promotion Vertières », cette cohorte incarne l’esprit de résistance et de courage des héros de l’indépendance. Elle arrive à un moment critique où Haïti fait face à une insécurité grandissante, marquée par la violence des gangs.
Les 739 diplômés ont suivi des formations intensives en sciences policières, droits humains, tactiques de combat et gestion de crises. Leur intégration représente une avancée dans les efforts de sécurisation du territoire.
